If you’ve planned ahead and put in place a maintenance and support plan for your boiler with Domestic & General, we have some good news! Not only will you now benefit from their excellent services, but you’ll also get money back if your boiler can’t be fixed or deemed Beyond Economical Repair (BER).

Domestic & General Boiler Plans

You can guarantee that your boiler will keep running, especially when you need it the most in the winter. 

There are two boiler maintenance and support plans available with Domestic & General;

The Gold Plan

With this plan, you can get annual service with up to £1,500 worth of repairs if your boiler broke down or fails its yearly service.

The gold boiler plan includes;

  • Ongoing maintenance hints and tips
  • Annual service maintenance
  • Access to our Boiler Care portal
  • Up to £1,500 worth of repairs if needed
  • Expert Gas Safe engineers
  • Replacement boiler up to £750 if required (installation costs not included)

The Platinum Plan

Like the Domestic & General Gold Plan, you’ll get an annual service for your boiler with up to £1,500 worth of repairs if your boiler fails the annual service or breaks down. Under this plan, you’ll also be entitled to a replacement boiler up to the value of £750 if your boiler is beyond economical repair.

But with this plan, you’ll get the ‘look after your central heating system’ option, whereby you’ll have the option to include your entire central heating system in your boiler plan.

Domestic & General Boiler Replacement Scheme

If the Domestic & General approved service technician can’t repair your boiler by the end of the boiler’s guarantee period- or your boiler is deemed to be Beyond Economical Repair (BER). In that case, Domestic & General will arrange to replace it with a new one for up to £750 (subject to availability).

The replacement will be of the same or similar technical specification.

If Domestic & General can’t reasonably arrange a replacement, they’ll give you manufacturer credit or vouchers instead. The manufacturer credit or vouchers will be for the total retail price (from a manufacturer chosen by Domestic & General) of a replacement boiler up to a value of £750Read the Domestic & General T&Cs here.

Beyond Economical Repair (BER) Boilers

If you’re wondering how a boiler is deemed Beyond Economical Repair, here’s the answer.

Following a heating engineer’s visit for a boiler service or a boiler repair, they submit a report which includes requirements for a repair.

At this point, an assessment will be carried out. The assessment will include the total cost of repairing your boiler (i.e. cost of the parts, labour, etc.), and it will compare it to the current value of the boiler, taking into account depreciation at the rate of 10% per year.

If the total cost of repairing your boiler is 60% or more than the current manufacturer’s retail price, the boiler is deemed BER.

What happens next?

If your boiler is deemed ‘beyond economical repair’, you’ll get an email and/or text message from Domestic & General about replacing your boiler.

The replacement email and text message contain a link to your replacement offer, including a selection of models you can choose from.

If Domestic & General can’t reasonably arrange a replacement for whatever reason, they’ll give you manufacturer credit or vouchers instead.

The Domestic & General Boiler Replacement Vouchers

  • Buy the boiler online with WarmZilla and complete the finance application form.
  • After the installation, we’ll notify the finance provider that the job has been completed. 
  • satisfaction note will be sent to you to approve.
  • Once you approve the satisfaction notecontact us to request an invoice. The invoice will include the engineer’s Gas Safe number.
  • You’ll then submit this invoice to Domestic & General to request a £750 reimbursement.
