What are the Glow-Worm Boiler Fault Codes? We have a complete list of Glow-Worm boiler error/fault codes, for every boiler.

Glow-worm is a British boiler brand with more than 75 years of experience in the heating business. Glow-worm state that they are committed to providing ‘top quality, reliability, and exceptional durability.’

Whilst reading this, you may be a little unsure about whether you agree with this claim. However, the aim of this blog is to help to identify the issues your boiler may be having, with a list of all error/fault codes with Glow-worm boilers, to help you feel a little less stressed about your boiler.

If you suspect an issue with your Glow-worm boiler, we have provided a list of their fault/error codes that could help you to identify the issue and potentially point it out to your Gas Safe Engineer.

Glow-worm has several different gas boiler ranges that encompass all different types and sizes of boilers including combi boilers, system boilers, and regular heat-only boilers.

Originally producing boilers back in 1934 at the Derwent Foundry in Derbyshire, Glow-worm, for the past 80 years state that they have been focused on offering their customers, reliable and highly efficient products.

They also claim that “it has been the drive which has led us right to the top as one of the leading heating manufacturers in the UK”.

In 2001 Glow-worm became a part of the Vaillant Group, Europe’s second-largest heating company.

Vaillant employs over 12,000 people across Europe and China, providing innovative heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning technologies to hundreds and thousands of homes all over the world.

If you’d like to find out more about Glow-worm, please feel free to explore their heritage.

In the 2020 Which? Best Buy annual survey, 7,500 boiler owners and 153 Which? Trusted Trader engineers were asked to give their options on Glow-worm boilers. They were asked to rate the boilers on;

  • Reliability
  • Customer Score
  • Engineer Recommendation
  • Build Quality
  • Availability of Parts and Spares
  • Ease of Fixing a Common Fault
  • Easy of Servicing

Glow-worm scored an overall brand score of 57% and ranked 7th place out of 13 boiler brands. This shows that although Glow-worm boilers are found to be less reliable than other boiler brands, they are still loved by customers. A star rating of 4 out of 5 also for customer score also supports this.

You can take a deeper look into Glow-worms ratings in the table below:

Glow-worm Error Codes F1, F4, F28 or F29

If you are seeing the error codes F1, F4 F28, or F29 on your boiler there’s an issue with your condensate pipe. This error appears when your pipe is frozen, which can happen during the cold months as it runs outdoors. You can fix this issue yourself if you feel confident enough, otherwise call an engineer, by thawing out the pipe which you can find out how to do with our handy guide to thawing a condensate pipe.
