Guide to all Ideal Gas Combi Boiler Models

Vogue-in-Kitchen

Do you need a new Ideal gas combi boiler?

Ideal boilers were founded in 1905, giving them over 100 years of experience in delivering boilers to homes throughout the U.K.

Ideal offers a wide range of combi, system and regular (heat only) gas boilers. In this article, we will focus on guiding you through all of the combi boilers under the Ideal boiler brand. We’ve written a guide covering all Ideal system boilers and all Ideal regular boilers if that is your boiler type. If you aren’t sure what type of boiler you have, then we’ve got you covered there too.

We will cover each boiler with a description of where it fits in the grand scheme of the Ideal boiler range and take a look at the key specifications and what kind of home it might be suited to.

Ideal was one of the pioneers in bringing high-efficiency boilers to market and they continue to bring reliable, efficient boilers to market to this day.

One of the first modern-day boilers was brought to market by Ideal in 1920 and known as the Cookanheat. The Cookanheat was a freestanding stove that combined an open fire, central heating boiler, cooking oven, and hot cupboard.

Ideal has come a long way from the Cookanheat, offering a range of combi boilers that offer high efficiency at a very reasonable price.

In terms of where Ideal are placed in the boiler market, they are classed just above a budget brand. Their prices are that of a budget boiler but the product and the aftercare are that of a more premium brand. Like-for-like, they won’t outperform a Worcester Bosch or Viessmann boiler, but you will save a few pounds if you opt for an Ideal boiler.

Their goals are laid out in their mission statement on their website:
“Ideal Boilers is dedicated to providing a reliable, competitively priced product range, and delivering incredible customer service to all of its installers and consumers first time, every time.”

No description of Ideal boilers would be complete without mentioning their plucky mascot, the imaginatively named ‘Boilerman’. Starting off as a bit of a laugh, people have taken quite a shine to the comedy mascot, he even has his own Twitter handle now – @IdealBoilerMan. He can also be found on matchdays, running up and down the touchline of West Bromwich Albion, cheering on the ‘baggies’.

Ideal has over 3.5k boiler reviews on Trustpilot, with an average trust score of 4.6 out of 5, which is a really good score, meaning their customers are generally really happy with the service they receive.

Ideal has this to say of themselves on their website:
“Today, Ideal remains at the forefront of the domestic and commercial heating markets, leading the industry in setting new standards and challenging technological boundaries. Our company remains true to its founding principles of quality, innovation, and value – building on its rich heritage as we look to the future.”

Ideal Vogue Max Combi Gas Boiler

The Ideal Vogue Max Combi Gas Boiler is the premium offering from Ideal, it is ‘constructed with the very best components’ and it comes with 10-12 years standard warranty, meaning Ideal is pretty confident that it will perform for a good lifespan.

To get the 12 years warranty the boiler needs to be installed and serviced by a Max accredited installer, registered within 30 days of installation, and serviced annually. Even if you don’t want to jump through these hoops – 10 years is still a great length boiler warranty.

  • 10 or 12-year warranty
  • Easy to read pressure gauge
  • Premium product using best components available
  • Compatible with Ideal controls
  • Full-text support for fault modes
  • Simple customer user interface; 3.5in full colour large backlit LCD display with plain text and graphics.
  • Stylish composite design with damped opening control cover and large rotary control dials
  • Service timer with telephone number display/service display
  • Quick installation – single-piece unit & low lift weight

The Ideal Max Combi is available in three models. The Ideal Vogue Max C26 Combi (18kW), the Ideal Vogue Max C32 Combi Gas Boiler (26kW), and the Ideal Vogue Max C40 Combi Gas Boiler (32kW).

An 18 kW central heating (CH) output rating makes the C26 best suited to homes with around 10 radiators while the domestic hot water (DHW) output rating is 26 kW and 10.6 l/min flow rate is perfect for a single bathroom with a shower.

A 26kW central heating (CH) output rating makes the C32 suitable for homes with between 15 and 20 radiators. The domestic hot water (DHW) output rating of 32 kW and 13.1 l/min flow rate are perfect for properties with one bathroom that has a bath.

A 32kW central heating (CH) output and domestic hot water (DHW) output of 40 kW means that the C40 is best suited to homes with 2 bathrooms and around 15 radiators.

The Vogue Max is quite a large boiler, so it won’t fit inside a standard kitchen cupboard.
