Key Takeaways

WarmZilla made a generous donation of £250 to The Big Issue Foundation, to help in the fight against poverty and homelessness for Big Issue vendors.
The announcement was made by Matthew Powell, Managing Director of WarmZilla who said:
“People who are homeless face difficult circumstances. This has been made even harder by the coronavirus outbreak. We believe everyone has the right to have a warm and comfortable place to live in. As we approach the colder seasons, we want to help shine a light on the issue of homelessness and support those who are affected by it; which is why we have chosen to support a number of charities, including The Big Issue Foundation.
This follows a month-long fundraising drive WarmZilla launched in support of national homelessness charities, and to support those people who are most exposed to coronavirus through the WarmZilla mission of ‘Warm For All’.
This donation could provide emergency relief to 10 Big Issue vendors in crisis with fuel top-ups, food vouchers and water and electricity top-ups.
About The Big Issue
The Big Issue connects Big Issue vendors to the vital support & specialist services that enable them to rebuild their lives & determine their own pathways to a better future.
The Big Issue exists to offer vulnerable people the opportunity to work their way out of poverty. Big Issue sellers buy every copy of the magazine upfront for 50% of the cover price. The Big Issue Foundation works exclusively with Big Issue vendors, who have already demonstrated their commitment to making positive changes in their lives.
The Big Issue vendors had an incredibly tough 2021 and January is always a difficult time, but with continued restrictions in place, vendor street sales are plummeting. Vendors urgently need your support. In this period of uncertainty, the Big Issue vendors need your support more than ever. Buy from your vendor, subscribe or donate.
Home for All
Since the coronavirus outbreak began, we’ve never had a better understanding of the value of ‘home’ – and the many reasons why it should be available to all.
Together, we have supported people who are homeless throughout the outbreak, with immediate needs like food supplies; and longer-term help – with things like mental health and access to benefits and other support so they can rebuild their lives.
But our work is not over. Unless we do something now and enact long-term as well as short-term solutions, this progress will slip and risks being undone.
The end of homelessness feels within reach, but only if we work together to make it happen. Every action or donation, no matter the size, will help.
