ALPHA BOILERS

Established over 50 years ago, Alpha has a long history, with core values of innovation, efficiency, and customer service at the forefront of their offering.

Alpha belongs to parent company Immergas, which operates in 30 countries worldwide. Immergas is the market leader in Italy where it originates, producing an impressive 7 million boilers per year.

Alpha Boilers

In short, probably not. Alpha is a budget boiler brand but it’s one of the least reliable budget boiler brands, with a Which? Brand score of 45%.

Alpha boilers are not well-reviewed by engineers or customers, and with plenty of choices available in the budget boiler range, WarmZilla wouldn’t recommend purchasing an Alpha boiler.

If you’re looking for a budget boiler we would recommend the Worcester Bosch 2000 series, the scaled-down younger sibling of the Worcester Bosch 8000 series. Sure, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the 8000 series, but it’s a very reliable boiler, from a top manufacturer – which means you’ll get great aftercare.

The Ideal Logic range is also a great option if you don’t want to spend a lot on a new boiler. It’s reliable, efficient, and it comes with an impressive 8-year warranty.

Alpha offers a range of combi, system and regular boilers. If you aren’t sure what boiler type you have, check out our blog, it’s important to know your boiler type before getting any boiler quotes.

Once you know what boiler type you’re looking for, you can use the WarmZilla boiler comparison function below. Just select up to 3 boilers you want to compare and you’ll be able to compare key stats side by side to see which Alpha (or another boiler brand) is best for you.

You can also take the WarmZilla survey, by answering a few simple questions about your home we will be able to recommend suitable boilers for your heating and hot water requirements. You can get a quote on a new boiler in just a few minutes without adding any personal details.

WarmZilla does not currently offer Alpha boilers, instead, we offer Vokera boilers starting from £1489 in the budget boiler category and Ideal boilers starting from £1549 if you want to spend a little bit more for a bit of added reliability and build quality. For more info on a head-to-head between Vokera and Alpha boilers, we have written a blog.

WarmZilla Vokera boilers come with a 5-year warranty and our Ideal boilers come with an impressive 8-year warranty.

You can also pick up a Worcester Bosch 2000 series boiler from £1699, which is a boiler bargain.

Alpha boiler prices vary depending on the model you choose and the kW output of the model you require. The Alpha E-Tec Plus combi boiler will cost you around £1200 just for the boiler alone without installation and all the extras you get with a WarmZilla boiler.

Boilers sold by WarmZilla come with Gas Safe installation, system filter, system cleanse, inhibitor, wireless thermostat, up to 12 years guarantee, any flues or extension kits you may need; plus, if your condensate or gas pipes require upgrading – that’s included in your fixed price boiler quote too!

You can get a quote now on a new boiler with all the extras mentioned above, in a few minutes using the WarmZilla online survey.

A good quality boiler should last for around 10-15 years on average and Alpha boilers are no exception. However, to ensure that your Alpha boiler is working as efficiently as possible, it is important to have it regularly maintained and annually serviced.

A boiler service is essentially a health check for your boiler. It is when your Gas Safe engineer will check over your boiler components and their operation.

What to expect from your Alpha boiler service:

– Your engineer will check the boiler over visually to ensure it doesn’t have any corrosion or leaks and that the flame is burning blue a which means it is burning fuel correctly.

– Your engineer will then remove the boiler casing to check and clean the internal components such as the heat exchanger, burner, main injector, safety devices and spark probe.

– Your engineer will check that the flue terminal are not obstructed and are fitted safely. All the seals, water and gas pipes will also be checked to ensure that they are intact.

– They will check the water flow and gas pressure levels and amend accordingly.

– The boiler will then be started up again so that the engineer can check for any operational faults with the boiler or temperature controls.

With an efficiency rating of 93% and ErP A-rating for heating and hot water, this combi boiler model is well known for its efficiency. Thanks to these ratings, depending on your current boilers efficiency rating, this combi boiler could help to lower your energy bills in the long run.

Combi boilers are often the more preferred choice of boiler in UK households, as they remove the need for any additional tanks or cylinders. This is because the water heater and the central heating are installed in the same unit. This makes combi boilers ideal for those who need hot water on demand as the water is ready instantly.

The Alpha E-Tec 28 has an output rating of 26.1kW for central heating and an output of 28.3kW for hot water. Although it is the least powerful in its range, don’t let this put you off, as it is still powerful enough to heat a home with up to 15 radiators and 1-2 bathrooms. If your home requires a higher demand for heating and hot water, the Alpha E-Tec Plus 33kWEvoke 33kW and E-Tec 33kW combi gas boilers are also available.

The E-Tec 33 also has an efficiency rating of 93% and ErP A-rating for heat, which could potentially help you to lower your carbon footprint and your energy bills, depending on your current boilers efficiency rating.

Combi boilers are often the more preferred choice of boiler in UK households, as they remove the need for any additional tanks or cylinders that you would need with a system or regular gas boiler. This is because combi boilers are designed to have a water heater and central heating combined in the same unit. This is ideal for those who need hot water instantly.

The Alpha E-Tec 33kW is the most powerful combi boiler of its range, with an output rating of 29.7kW for central heating and an output of 32kW for hot water, perfect for homes with up to 20 radiators and 1-2 bathrooms.

With these output levels, this combi boiler is powerful enough to heat medium-sized homes with a high demand for heating and hot water. On the other hand, if you have a smaller sized home that does not have such a high demand for heating and hot water, the Alpha E-Tec 28kW is also available.

Alpha has designed the E-Tec 20S system gas boiler to be a compact unit that can be fitted inside a standard kitchen cupboard, saving you space around your home.

However, it is important to note when purchasing a new or replacement system boiler, that an extra hot water cylinder is also required. Cold water enters the boiler from the mains water supply, gets heated, and is then stored in a hot water cylinder for when it’s needed. Great for those who need hot water instantly.

The Alpha E-Tec 20S has an output of 26.1kW, which is perfect for small to medium-sized homes that have around 15 radiators and one bathroom. Meanwhile, if you feel that the 20S is not powerful enough for your home, Alpha has designed the 30S, with an output of 29.7W, for a home with higher demand.

Alpha has designed the E-Tec 30S system gas boiler to be a compact unit that can be installed directly inside a standard kitchen cupboard, saving you space around your home. However, it is important to note when purchasing a new or replacement system boiler, that an additional hot water cylinder will be required.

The water supply for a system boiler comes directly from the mains, which eliminates the need for a cold water feed in the loft as you would need with a regular gas boiler, however, a hot water storage cylinder is still needed. This is because the water is then heated up in the boiler and stored for when you need it.

The E-Tec 30S is the most powerful of its range with an output of 29.7kW. Although this boiler is perfect for medium-sized homes that have a high demand for heating and hot water, you may find that this amount of power is not necessary for your home. If you find that this is the case, Alpha has designed the E-Tec 20S, with an output of 26.1W, for a home with lesser demand.

The Alpha E-Tec 15R is the least powerful in its range, with a central heating output of 15.1kW, but don’t let this put you off as it is still powerful enough to heat a smaller home with up to 10 radiators and one bathroom. However, if you feel that your home requires a higher demand for heating and hot water, Alpha has designed the E-Tec 20R with an output of 20kW and the E-Tec 25R with an output of 25kW, which could be better suited to your home.

It is important to note when purchasing a new or replacement regular gas boiler, that you will need to accommodate for an additional hot water storage cylinder and a cold-water storage tank, which is usually installed in the attic. As a result of these additional elements, regular boilers are not recommended for homes with limited space.

Thanks to its high-efficiency rating of 92% and an ErP A rating for heat, the E-Tec 20R is an extremely efficient boiler that could also help you to save money on your energy bills.

With an output of 20.4kW, the Alpha E-Tec 20R is powerful enough for a small to medium-sized home with 10-15 radiators. However, if you feel that your home requires a higher demand for heating and hot water, the Alpha E-Tec range includes the 25R which has an output rating of 25kW. If your home does not require this amount of power, then the E-Tec 15R with an output of 15.1kW is also available.

It is important to note when purchasing a new or replacement regular gas boiler, that you will need to accommodate for an additional hot water storage cylinder and a cold water storage tank, which is usually installed in the attic. As a result of these additional elements, regular boilers are not recommended for homes with limited space.

The Alpha E-Tec 25R 25kW is a wall-mountable, condensing regular boiler that is compact and lightweight, perfect for installation in your standard kitchen cupboard, out of sight, out of mind. However, it is important to note when purchasing a new or replacement regular gas boiler, that you will need to accommodate for an additional hot water storage cylinder and a cold water storage tank, which is usually installed in the attic.

The Alpha E-Tec 25R is the most powerful heat-only boiler that Alpha sells, with an output rating of 26.1kW for central heating. This model is perfect for medium-sized homes with a high demand for heating and hot water. This regular boiler could comfortably heat a home with up to 15 radiators with no issues.

However, if you feel that this may be too much power for your home, or you have less than 15 radiators, Alpha has designed the E-Tec 15R with an output of 15.1kW as well as the E-Tec 20R, with an output of 20.4kW, which could be better suited to your home.
