INTERGAS BOILERS

Intergas is a Dutch boiler manufacturer that has been operating for 50 years. Their aim is to increase energy-efficiency to lower emissions and your heating bills.

This is largely down to their ‘two-in-one’ heat exchanger, which Intergas claim shaves a further 5% off energy bills over other condensing boilers in the U.K.

Intergas Boilers

Intergas are a mid-range boiler brand, similar to Ideal and Baxi boilers. Intergas are fairly reliable boilers but they don’t tend to score too highly in brand reviews.

Despite Intergas’ revolutionary ‘two-in-one’ heat exchanger using less fuel and reducing the number of parts in the boiler (less parts to potentially go wrong), Intergas haven’t been able to gain a major foothold in the British boiler market, which is dominated by Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi and Ideal.

Depending on the model of Intergas boiler you choose, you can get up to ten years warranty, which gives you peace of mind when you buy an Intergas boiler that it will last, and if it doesn’t, Intergas will repair your boiler.

Intergas’ Trustpilot profile has a trust score of 4.6 out of 5, which sounds great, but some of those reviews are from engineers – who get kickbacks to install Intergas boilers. Another thing that stands out from the reviews is that a lot of them are about servicing the boiler, not about the performance of the boiler itself. These points aside, 4.6 is still a really good score and they only have 5% ‘bad’ reviews.

Which? scores Intergas at 52% with an average reliability rating and an average customer score. Engineers like that it’s easy to repair because of the simple design but there just doesn’t seem much to recommend about Intergas boilers.

It’s not that Intergas boilers are bad, it’s just that in the market space they occupy for boilers (mid-range), there are better options out there, like Ideal.

Ideal are very reliable and have excellent customer support for about the same cost as an Intergas boiler. There is also the Worcester Bosch 2000 range, which is positioned as an entry-level boiler, but it’s still a Worcester Bosch boiler, with the Worcester Bosch customer support team behind it.

Intergas have a range combi, regular and system boilers in a choice of kW outputs that would be suited for anything from small flats to large homes with multiple bathrooms.

If you aren’t sure what boiler type you have, check out our blog, it’s important to know your boiler type before getting any boiler quotes.

Once you know what boiler type you’re looking for, you can use the WarmZilla boiler comparison function below. Just select up to 3 boilers you want to compare and you’ll be able to compare key stats side by side to see which Intergas (or other boiler brand) is best for you.

You can also take the WarmZilla survey, by answering a few simple questions about your home we will be able to recommend suitable boilers for your heating and hot water requirements. You can get a quote on a new boiler in just a few minutes without adding any personal details.

WarmZilla does not sell Intergas boilers. WarmZilla offers Ideal boilers for around the same price but with better customer service and generally more reliable boilers. You can also pick up a Worcester Bosch 2000 with a 5-10 year guarantee at a very reasonable price.

Intergas boiler prices vary depending on the model you choose and the kW output of the model you require. The Intergas Combi Compact Eco HRE 18kW costs £900 (without installation) from a plumbing merchant.

From the same plumbing merchant, an Ideal Logic C24 Combi Boiler (24kW) costs £720. A decent saving and the Ideal Logic has a higher kW output.

A WarmZilla boiler comes with the boiler, Gas Safe installation, system filter, system cleanse, inhibitor, wireless thermostat, up to 14 years guarantee, any flues or extension kits you may need; plus, if your condensate or gas pipes require upgrading – that’s included in your fixed price boiler quote too!

You can get a quote now on a new boiler with all the extras mentioned above, in a few minutes using the WarmZilla online survey.

Your Intergas boiler should last you between 10-15 years, however, this depends on how well you maintain your boiler. Over time, your boiler’s efficiency will naturally decline slightly, however, annual servicing and regular maintenance will ensure that your boiler is working as efficiently as possible.

To ensure that your boiler warranty remains valid, your Intergas boiler needs to be serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered installer.

Intergas offer service appointments at a fixed price, inclusive of VAT, however, the price will depend on your location. Should parts be required, Intergas will classify the appointment as a breakdown and you will be charged an additional fee,

What are the standard checks carried out by a Gas Safe engineer?

  • Water leaks
  • External damage to the boiler
  • Condition of the electrics
  • Evidence of poor-quality installation
  • Suitability of boiler controls
  • The proximity of combustible materials to the boiler
  • Accessibility for repair and servicing
  • Signs of overheating

Your Gas Safe engineer should also check that your boiler is operating correctly, that the main components are checked, as well as the burner, heat exchanger, main injector and spark sensor probe. The gas measurements should also be taken to ensure that they are within the correct limits allowed by the manufacturer’s standards.

The Intergas Combi Compact HRE 24/18 is a compact condensing combi boiler. Combi boilers are found in most UK households, thanks to their compact size and efficiency. This is thanks to combi boilers combining both the water heating element and central heating in one single unit, removing the need for any additional hot or cold water tanks, as you would need with a system or regular boiler.

This combi boiler has an output of 18kW for central heating and 22.1kW for hot water, which is perfect for smaller homes with up to 15 radiators and a single bathroom. The Intergas Combi Compact HRE range includes the Combi Compact 24, the Compact 30 and the Compact 40 combi boilers with outputs up to 42.5kW for central heating and 32.7kW for hot water, for homes with higher demand.

The Intergas Compact HRE combi boiler range has been designed with no diverter valve, no valve motor, no hot water plate heat exchanger, and no air pressure switch. These parts have been left out of the build to improve the reliability of the boiler.

Combi boilers are used in many UK households, as they are great space savers and ideal for homes with limited room. This is because combi boilers are designed to combine both the central heating and water heating element in one single unit, so unlike system or regular boilers, combi boilers do not need any additional hot or cold water tanks installed.
