POTTERTON BOILERS

Potterton boilers are a U.K based boiler company that has been operating since 1850. Potterton was acquired by Baxi heating in 1999 and Baxi is part of BDR Thermea Group, a European boiler manufacturer.

Potterton, like Baxi, are reliable mid-range boilers, you won’t get the additional extras you would get with a Vaillant or Worcester Bosch boiler but you will get a solid boiler at a reasonable price.

Potterton Boilers

Potterton boilers are solid mid-range boilers made by Baxi. Potterton, as you would expect, makes very similar boilers to Baxi, with similar engineer and customer feedback.

Potterton (and Baxi) boilers are very reliable with no significant drawbacks. There are, however, very similar boilers in the same bracket, such as Ideal boilers, which do the same job at a slightly cheaper price.

WarmZilla recommends Ideal boilers if you’re looking for a reliable mid-range boiler. Our Ideal boilers come with a massive 8-year guarantee and start from just £1549 for the Ideal Logic range, which is a great price for a mid-range boiler with the reputation and aftercare Ideal offer.

Potterton offers a range of combi, system, and regular boilers. If you aren’t sure what boiler type you have, check out our blog, it’s important to know your boiler type before getting any boiler quotes.

Once you know what boiler type you’re looking for, you can use the WarmZilla boiler comparison function below. Just select up to 3 boilers you want to compare and you’ll be able to compare key stats side by side to see which Potterton (or another boiler brand) is best for you.

You can also take the WarmZilla survey, by answering a few simple questions about your home we will be able to recommend suitable boilers for your heating and hot water requirements. You can get a quote on a new boiler in just a few minutes without adding any personal details.

WarmZilla does not currently offer Potterton boilers, instead, we offer Ideal boilers which we feel occupy the same space in the boiler market but at more reasonable prices and with better aftercare.

Potterton boiler prices vary depending on the model you choose and the kW output of the model you require. The Potterton Titanium combi boiler will cost you around £800 just for the boiler alone without installation and all the extras you get with a WarmZilla boiler.

Boilers sold by WarmZilla come with Gas Safe installation, system filter, system cleanse, inhibitor, wireless thermostat, up to 12 years guarantee, any flues or extension kits you may need; plus, if your condensate or gas pipes require upgrading – that’s included in your fixed price boiler quote too!

You can get a quote now on a new boiler with all the extras mentioned above, in a few minutes using the WarmZilla online survey.

All appliances that burn wood or fossil fuels (such as natural gas) can produce poisonous Carbon Monoxide if they are not working properly, so it is important to keep your boiler in good condition to avoid any risks.

Having your boiler annually serviced also keeps your boiler warranty valid. Potterton warranty requires your boiler to be annually serviced by a Gas Safe Engineer. Failure to do so could not only invalidate your warranty but also lead to expensive repair bills on your boiler.

What will your Gas Safe Engineer will check during your boiler service?

  • That your boiler has the correct gas pressure and flow.
  • The flue and combustion. A flue gas analyser will be used to make sure the boiler is burning the right mixture of gas and air that your boiler flue is not blocked.
  • Your electrical connections are clean and in good condition.
  • That your fans and other key components are working efficiently.
  • That your boiler seals are intact.
  • Your electrodes are in good condition.
  • That all safety devices are checked.
  • That your condensate pipe and trap are not blocked.
  • That your water and gas pipework is in working order.

Your Gas Safe Engineer should also inform you that if your boiler does not meet building and safety legislation and regulations during their checks.

As a guide, a boiler service should take at least half an hour and you should receive a full service report once your boiler service is complete.

With an efficiency rating of 93% and an ErP A-rating for central heating, the Assure 12kW can not only help you to reduce your carbon footprint but can also help to lower your energy bills.

It is important to note when purchasing a new or replacement system boiler, that although the boiler unit itself is compact, you will need to have space for an additional sealed hot water storage tank. This is because system boilers are fed with cold water directly from the mains, this water is then heated in the boiler and then it’s transferred into a sealed hot water tank for when needed.

However, if space in your home is not limited and you require instant hot water, system boilers could be the perfect option for you. The Potterton Assure range is also available as a combi boiler for those with limited space in their home.

The Assure 12kW is suitable for smaller homes with up to 10 radiators and a bathroom. If your home requires a higher demand, the Assure 15kW, 18kW, or 24kW are available.

This system boiler has been designed to be compact and lightweight so that it can be wall-mounted in your standard kitchen cupboard, saving you space in your home. System boilers are fed with cold water directly from the mains, this water is then heated in the boiler and then it’s transferred into a sealed hot water tank to use when needed, perfect for those who require instant hot water.

If you have room for a hot water tank in your home, then a system boiler could be perfect for you. Meanwhile, if you don’t have the additional space, the Potterton Assure range is also available as a combi boiler.

The Assure 15kW is suitable for smaller homes with up to 10 radiators and a bathroom. If your home requires a higher demand, the Assure 18kW or 24kW are available. However, if it demands less heating and hot water, the Assure 12kW might be your best option.

It is important to note when purchasing a new or replacement system boiler, that although the boiler unit itself is compact, you will need to have space for an additional sealed hot water storage tank which requires more room in your home. This is because system boilers are fed with cold water directly from the mains, this water is then heated in the boiler and then it’s transferred into a sealed hot water tank to use when needed, which is perfect for those who require instant hot water.

If space is not an issue in your home, then a system boiler could be a great option for you. However, if you do not have the room in your home, then the Potterton Assure range is available as a combi boiler which is best suited to homes with limited space.

The Potterton Assure 18kW is one of the more powerful system boilers in its range, with the ability to heat a home with up to 15 radiators and a bathroom. The Assure 24kW is available for those with higher demand, but also the 12kW and 15kW are available for homes with lesser demand for central heating and hot water. When purchasing a new or replacement system boiler, it is important to note that although the boiler unit itself is compact, you will need to have space for an additional sealed hot water storage tank in your home. These are often installed in an airing cupboard of a property.

You will need this additional tank because system boilers are supplied with cold water directly from the mains, they then heat the water in the boiler unit, once it reaches optimum temperature, it is then moved into a sealed hot water tank to use when needed, which is perfect for those who require instant hot water. If your home has plenty of space then a system boiler could be a great option for you.

The Potterton Assure is also available in a combi regular boiler, and the Assure System 18kW and 24kW are also both available as an LPG boiler.

As mentioned, the Potterton Assure 24kW is the most powerful system boilers in its range, with the ability to heat a home with up to 15 radiators and a bathroom. Meanwhile, many homes do not require this demand for central heating and hot water, in this case, the 12kW, 15kW or 18kW may be more suitable for your home.
