RADIATORS

Buying a new radiator

Choosing the right radiators for your home can be a minefield as they come in many shapes, sizes, styles, materials and colours – all designed to heat your home!

When you replace your old rads, you don’t have to be limited by the old ones’ size, design or style. Meaning, you’ll enjoy choosing from many options.

If you’re choosing new radiators, make sure you know your room’s heat output requirements and the type of radiators your house needs.

Radiators

The most common radiator types in the UK are; plumbed, electric, and dual-fuel radiators.

Radiator material types vary. They’re generally made from one of these four materials – cast iron, aluminium, mild steel or stainless steel.

Some of the most popular radiator styles are; Single & Double Panel Convector radiators, Type 11 Convector Radiator, Type 21 & 22 Convector Radiator, and of course, Horizontal Radiators and the trendy Vertical Radiators.

Type 22 Convector radiator is thicker than Type 21, it also generates more heat – which makes it more energy-efficient.

To choose the best radiator style for your home, look at these factors to maximise the heat output – the radiator size, the room dimensions, the size of your windows, and the number of external walls. Don’t forget to pick the style that suits your home aesthetic!
