What’s a thermostat?
A thermostat is a tool that controls your home’s temperature. It’s a vital part of your heating system as it works hand in hand with your boiler to make your home the desired temperature.
There are many thermostats on the market; wireless and battery-operated thermostats, wired thermostats, programmable thermostats & smart thermostats. Smart thermostats are becoming more popular here in the UK and can save you money on your heating bills.
Thermostats
When you set your preferred temperature, your thermostat will work with your boiler to keep your room at the desired level. Meaning, if the temperature starts to drop in the room, the thermostat will turn the heating on to warm it up, and once the room has reached the set point, the thermostat will turn off the heating.
The main two types of thermostats are mechanical and digital.
A digital thermostat displays the room temperature in a digital format and is more accurate than the mechanical thermostat.
A Mechanical thermostat on the other hand is cheaper but slightly less accurate.
